Northern New Mexico is home of some of the finest champagne
powder skiing in the rockies. One of the rocky mountains best kept secrets,
skiing in New Mexico can be better than Colorado at times. New Mexico
is host to several ski resorts and has a wide array of backcountry terrain
for your skiing or snowshoeing pleasure. rental ski equipment for XC, telemark
and snowshoeing are available at Sangre de Cristo Mountain Works.
As primarily a backcountry ski shop we will focus on the great off -piste
skiing in New Mexico. We will direct you to some of the local hot spots
for Telemark skiing and Alpine touring. The New Mexico backcountry is a vast
and potentially dangerous place. We do not recommend traveling in the
backcountry in the winter without the proper equipment or training. Doing
so may lead to serious injury or death. This site is intended to be a service, please take the greatest care.
Sangre de Cristo Mountain Works carries a full selection of telemark, alpine touring and backcountry touring gear.
Now that we have covered our butt's, let’s talk about the goods,
The Santa Fe BC Scene if you can call it that. New Mexico is sort of
a haven for free thinking free heeling and free skiing enthusiasts. The
prohibitive cost of lift access skiing has given birth to an almost overwhelming
( for me at least) back country ski phenomena. No matter what your level
there is a wide variety of terrain to match you particular style. |
