Chile Time

In Santa Fe, you know it is Fall when the air begins to smell of Green Chile Roasting in the day and sweet Pinon smoke fills the air in the evening. Santa Fe is an incredibly olfactory place as the nose always knows the season based upon the smells in the air ( all pleasant ones ). Green and Red Chili are century old traditions here in the City Different and we go nuts for our chile. Take a drive down any major thorough fare and you will find chile from Chimayo ( Red) , Soccoroo Green and of course the legendary Hatch green known far and wide as the real Chile capital of the world.Just the other day while venturing down Cerrillos road I spied a Hatch Chile stand and stopped to get an entire 50 lb burlap of chile roasted. As the local farmer loaded the chili I asked to sample some medium ( which is all relative to the palette.)Mmmmmmmm no better way to keep a fall cold away.
If you are venturing to Santa Fe in the fall head out on Cerrilos or head to the local farmers market and load up on what we locals consider to be one of our finest local traditions. now if I could just get my elk meat, I will be styling for the winter. Eat Chile Every Day!

Chong and The Rodent Hiker

Chong Pukes at Altitude Oooooh Buddy!

The Rodent Helps Chong Clean Up his Act....

The Objective Ayee Vato!

News from afar is that Chong and Rodent Hiker have parted ways temporarily from there Fear and Loathing Climbing trip for fall 2007. Unfortunately Chong had to return to New Mexico due to a family emergency and the Rodent has gone back to Jersey to remind himself why he has ventured to the west. We recently received these pics from the boys recent ventures in the Tetons. Evidently the trip was epic free short of Chong's inability to breath through some of the moves on the Durrance route on Symmetry Spire in the Tetons, we think that this may have something to do with Climbers camp activities the evening before. What was that in your bowl certainly not cereal?. We hope to here from the Chong and Rodent soon happy trails.
